Stayed in Rippingale for a week's holiday & was looking forward to visiting the Bull for evening dinner.
We had been told that they are 'dog friendly', so with our faithful companion we set off at 6p.m. only to find that they did not open until 6.45p.m. so we walked around the village & came back to The Bull at 6.50p.m. - door was open so we walked into the 'foyer' but nobody about.
A few minutes later a woman appeared from the kitchen area at the other end of the pub and when I mentioned that we had a dog (my wife was holding him still in the foyer)it was "oh!, you had better come through here - people sometimes like to eat in this part" and we were taken to a small, cold & dingy room at the other side of the pub. But she then said to her barman (who had also appeared) - "we prefer them to come in through the back door" & he then promptly served a man who had followed us in without offering to serve us - needless to say we left immediately and went to the Hare & Hounds in the next village (who were very polite & understanding) where our friends later joined us.
Sorry dear, you lost 24 meals and 52 pints that week.
We are not second class citizens because we have a dog - we are still customers! - Won't come back of course.
